Brooklyn , Mar 07, 2019
Sixty-five-year-old Joseph Boyle from Brooklyn has claimed a $1,000,000 Mega Millions second prize. Boyle matched the first five numbers drawn for the February 22 drawing making him Kings County’s newest Lottery millionaire.
“I was replaying the same numbers a few days after that drawing and when the clerk scanned the ticket he told me it was a winner,” Boyle said. “I stayed calm, left the store and went to the Lottery office to make sure my eyes weren’t deceiving me!”
The winning Mega Millions numbers for the February 22 drawing were 1824-31-34-55 Mega Ball 4.
The $1,000,000 Mega Millions second prize is paid as a one-time lump sum payment. Boyle will receive a net check totaling $633,040 after required withholdings.
“I’ll use the money to take a summer vacation with my family and pay off my debt,” he said.
The winning ticket was purchased at the 9 St Quick Stop on 7th Avenue in Brooklyn.
Boyle is the 23rd New York Lottery player to claim a prize totaling $1,000,000 or more this year.
