Bronx Man Wins $1M Jackpot on Lottery Scratch-off Ticket

Rafael Matias of the Bronx is New York’s newest Lottery millionaire.  Matias won his $1 million jackpot prize on a Mega Millions/Powerball scratch-off ticket. 

Matias purchased his winning ticket at the Hua Mei Discount Store on Boston Road in the Bronx.  He opted to receive his $1 million prize as a one-time lump sum payment totaling $506,432 after required withholdings.

Matias is the 12th New York Lottery player to claim a prize totaling $1 million or more this year.

The New York Lottery contributed $1,263,968,814 in Lottery Aid to Education to school districts throughout the five boroughs of New York City during fiscal year 2018-2019.
