Queens Man Wins $5M Scratch-Off Prize

Twenty-seven-year-old MD Murshed Ahmed from Queens has claimed a jackpot prize on the popular Set for Life scratch-off ticket. The restaurant manager’s matching 15s earned him the guaranteed $5,000,000 payout.
“I scratched the ticket and knew right away it was a winner,” said Ahmed.
Ahmed opted to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment and will receive a net check totaling $2,427,950 after required withholdings.
“I plan to use the winnings to buy a house,” explained Ahmed.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Pronto Lotto on 74th Street in Elmhurst.
As of this writing there are four outstanding top prizes available on the Set for Life ticket. Players may check the status of any New York Lottery Scratch-off game by clicking the Instant Games Reports link at nylottery.ny.gov.
The New York Lottery contributed $1,337,283,719 in Lottery Aid to Education to school districts throughout the five boroughs of New York City during fiscal year 2017-2018.
